C.E.C International biennale engraved  cardboard.

Many artists in France and abroad make prints using cardboard matrix. In order to bring them together and in an effort to make this print approach as widely known as possible, C.E.C, a group of artists, organizes its 1st Biennale of engraved cardboard in parternership with the municipality of Ville d’Avray.

The exhibition will take place from May 22nd to June 14th  2020 at the Entr@cte Gallery, 3-5 rue de Versailles 92410 Ville d’Avray.

Conditions of participation

° Open to everyone regardless of age or nationality

° You can present up to 2 prints made since 2018 exclusively from cardboard matrix. Warning : the engraved cupboard can’t be assimilated to collagraphy. Even if you will be able to associate other techniques of engraving (a part of wich may be collagraphy) or the printing of digital images but the “ cardboard” part will have to take precedence.

° The selection board reserves the right to refuse works that do not meet these criteria. The jury’s decisions are final.

° The list of selected artists will be published on the site of the biennale https://biennaleinternationaleducartongrave.com and they will receive by email the notification of their selection and the elements necessary for their communication.

°The statutory size of the paper is 20×30 cm, the format of the matrix inside this format remains free. On the back of each work must be indicated:  the name of the artist, the redirection mailing address, the title, the price, the orientation  of the work (up and down).

° In the event of sale the transaction is made in the name of the artist and the  C.E.C does not take a commission from the sale. For foreigner artists CEC will cash the amount of the sale and CEC will transfer such amont by Paypal to the concerned artist.

Two prizes will be awarded by an independant jury with a value of :

City of Ville d’Avray prize 500€

Engraved cardboard prize 500€

Participation fee :

° 35€, payment by paypal, by cheque or bank transfer, including the return of works by normal mail ( CEC will not be responsible for loss by mail)(see « Inscription » section).

° In the event that the work is not selected, the participation fee will not be refunded.

° Participation in the selection and the event will only be possible after payment of fees.

Registration and sending of works

° By mail, the registration form and the payment must be returned completed before February 20, 2020 accompanied by a photo of the cardboard matrix and a photo of one of the artworks proposed for selection at the following email address bicgcec@gmail.com . Photo format: 150dpi

° Two copies of each work must be sent by post by February 20, 2020 to the following address: Pascale Simonet/CEC- Résidence du Monastére – 3 allée des Sycomores -92410 –Ville d’Avray- France.

°The select artists will be notified by mail and the complete list will be published on the site of the biennale.

° Anywork received, which do not comply with  the regulations (size, technique…) will not be selected.

Insurance of works

The works will be insured by CEC from their reception until their return including throughout the exhibition.

Catalogue

An online catalogue will present the works of selected artists, it will be relaid on the FB page of the group, on several other Facebook pages and on Instagram.

A paper catalogue will be edited and put on sale during the exhibition. Each exhibitor will receive a free copy; however the conditions of sending will be communicated later.

Exhibition of works

° The works will be presented from May 22nd to June 14th at the Entr@cte Galery (3-5 rue de Versailles – 92410 Ville d’Avray). The artists agree that the hanging will be done without frame but with magnets.

° Artists will be asked to have as far as possible, a duty officer.

Return of works

° The works will be sent back at the latest by the month following the end of the exhibition. The sold works payment will be made through Paypal or cheque within the same deadline.

° In the event of the works shipped were not delivered to the addressee (address error…)and would be returned to C.E.C, they would be reshipped after rectification of the address and payment of new postal costs.

 Summary

° Registration by mail before 20/02/2020 with a photo of the matrix and the work (definition 150dpi)

° The rules must be signed and sent by email or by postal mail before the 20/02/2020 confirmed by the postmark.

° Payment of participation fees before the 20/20/2020

°When sending engravings by 20/02/2020 to Pascale Simonet/CEC – Résidence du Monastére – 3 allée des Sycomores – 92410 Ville d’Avray – France. Do not forget to mention “no commercial value” on the package.

° Selection and notification to selected artists from 15 March 2020

° Exhibition at the Entr@cte from May 22 to June 14 2020

° Opening and award ceremony: the date will be communicated later

° Return of works and payment of works sold at the end of July the latest.

° Participation of the event implies acceptance of the rules
